This is a mini-collection I designed that was inspired by depressive episodes and the yami kawaii subculture in Japan. I demonstrated this idea by mixing grotesque wordage and tattered knit fabric with hyperfeminine ruffles, pleats, and lace to make the depression “cutesy”. Vintage cartoon animals such as fawns, lambs, and kittens are also utilized to convey this idea.
